“Happy New Year’s,
This past year, my wife and I are “in service to others.” Specifically, through the US government program: “United for Ukraine,” we are sponsors for a Ukraine family, refugees from war. We flew them from Ukraine to US, and they are now residing here in our town. We are “in service to others,” as we are now supporting 18 refugees. As hostilities continue upon Ukraine more refugees arrive. Janet and I are sponsoring them through the “United for Ukraine” rapid entry in USA program.
Why am I writing? We are directing our efforts towards assisting these refugees. Sponsorship requires a twenty-four-month financial commitment for the refugees. Sheldrake for Ukraine Refugees, Inc. Assist Program. As we greet our 6th escapees from the dangers of Kyiv and the Ukraine. We continue to need assistance with housing, furniture, food, medical support, and legal requirements as they enter our country. It is not only time consuming but awfully expensive and all of you generous volunteers have used your own funds to make this happen. Our neighborhood generosity has been overwhelming. We can never thank you enough.
We must help them become self-sufficient and also assist the children to register and qualify for school. This will give their parents the freedom to become employed. Now we need help to acquire the needed transportation…. a vehicle
We are sorry that we can’t “stop asking you for help ” but this is a very emotional transition for the families that we have accepted and assisted. Now they need work and a means of getting to work……..Please help us find a vehicle for these families which will get them one step closer to independency.
Thank you for listening. We offer our prayers for you, our wonderful neighbors, and families.
Happy New Year and pray for peace“
